Sparklescapes

Just as hope can override our darkest moments, so too do the “orbs” become the central focus of each painting. My goal with each of these pieces is to create light coming from darkness, which symbolizes hope.

My main inspiration for the landscapes is Northern Ontario, where I grew up going to our family cottage. In 2004 I lost my dad in a car accident, and ever since then, sitting at the lake is where I would spend time contemplating life and loss.

The orbs originated as a symbol to represent the feeling of a loved one being close by and/or being surrounded by happy memories.
